28 Nosler advice needed

I ran it in a different case, but it had similar case fill as rl33. Towards good and full kinda deal. Low pressure and decent speed like 33. Supposed to be temp stable. Drop under your 33 load and come up. I had awesome spreads with it.
I can't be 100% it was the 8133 but I had a carbon ring issue when I would get to the mid 20 some rounds. I was testing it along with retumbo, so I'm not sure if it was a combo thing but I dumped both at the same time.
Bullets weren't agreeing with the speeds anyhow so back down the hill to trusty h1000 and Walmart safe speeds.

I had some similar results testing with 180ELDM bullets, the speed was not any better than Retumbo and after 30 rnds my groups opened up. Cleaned the barrel and had a lot of Carbon on the patch, more than when using Retumbo. I have nearly burned through my 1lb can and was seeing if anyone else was having better results before I tried another can with the 195's.

78.8 gr of IMR 8133 seated 0.030 off lands . Getting 3025fps and 1/5 MOA out of it

Is this using the Berger 195 or the Hornady 180 ELDM??? Also what is the length of your barrel? I have a few pounds of the IMR 8133 and I plan on giving it a try in a few days.

I have had good luck with Retumbo in both of my 28 Noslers. I run 78.5(cci 250 and .120 off the lands) gr in one and 76.5(fed 215m and .015 off the lands) in the other, velocity is 3040 and 3060 respectively and accuracy is exceptional. The reamer that I use was cut with a long freebore and a 1.5 degree lead with a .316 neck dimension. I got ejector marks on most of the loads that I tried but primer pockets were staying good. I have noticed that Retumbo runs fairly dirty so it is important to make sure that you keep up on the cleaning. I have a few pounds of RL 33 but have seen to much temp instability with the powder in a 30-338 Lapua improved for me to make the switch.

cjuve, I also found the Retumbo to be very sooty, how many round do you go between cleaning on your 28's

I really struggled with it for the first 100 rounds, I was
cleaning every 30 rounds after a solid break in but still ended up getting a carbon ring which gave me pressure and accuracy issues. I was talking to a gunsmith friend who suggested that I really spend some time cleaning the throat area after soaking with some top end cleaner, I followed his recommendations and have not had an issue since. So I still keep it to 30-50 rounds but when I clean I soak overnight with top end carbon remover and it seems to do the trick.

I have a new box of 180 Hunitng VLDs and a couple pounds of RL33 to try on my 26" barreled MRC X2. Any good load information and oals for my rifle combo? I`m new to the reloading game and even newer to getting the right distances off the lands.

Check the OD of the neck on a fired case and a loaded one. The fired case should be .004" larger than a loaded case. Buddy has one, same problem as you. He switched to 26 Nosler brass opened up to 28 Nosler and his problems went away. Neck brass is .002" thinner with the 26 to 28 brass than the 28 brass.

I have played heck with this as well with less than book loads in my 7 RUM.

It is with the 195 Bergers. I went with WLRM primers as well.
Was able to get out and shoot this past weekend and had good luck with 78.7 grains of IMR 8133, WLRM primers, 195 Bergers seated 0.025 off lands for COAL of 3.70 in Nosler brass, 2x fired and annealed as well as new brass just FL resized. Under 1/2" at 100. Im sticking with that load.

Out of curiosity, were you using a chronograph? If so, what kind of velocity did that load give you with the 8133?
