Target/ELR 375 HE..

And the powder space in the case with bullet loaded out in long freebore

is about 2.90" long, , which equals 290 -- .010" spaces/sections, and we gained two

sections, with each section holding 2/3 grain of ball powder, gives us little more.

With reamer/chamber specs working right , if guy necks case little hard, gets little bigger

donut/love handle, and case little short on shoulder , when loaded, belt holds it,

and with fireforming comes out right. Same for hydro forming.

A secret, various experimental super BC bullets being done are not seal band bullets,

but ones loaded out a little, which is why best chance win, that is what is needed.Ed..

In all my wildcatting before, I made case, made chamber with lathe tools, fired them, then with

measurements of that, had reamer specs drawn up. Still best way. Indirectly did same here, by

using the hydro die, which in essence is an adjustable chamber, got shoulder set up better

without excess thickening at the body/shoulder corner. Got everything smoother, gained capacity,

and checking case down near the base, shows no thinning afterwards. Got all reamers revised

and they are public domain, worldwide, no permissions needed....Ed.

Here is pic test gun,big heavy bull barrel, no brake,

in heavy thumbhole stock, weighted to over 20 lbs,

Enfield action. Run as singleshot with big long, feed port.

I prefer singleshots. Ed

Before we do the next to last necking pass we deburr inside of

new case mouth with a dull ball nose reamer, just enough to smooth

it up inside front edge, and after last pass, we use no 7 taper pim reamer to smooth

up inside of neck. we spin it backwards in the neck with fingers, and if it spins rough

which we can feel easy, we then use same reamer to make few forward turns to level off the

bump/ridges inside.Turn it and cut easy, Fast process and necks hold bullets fine,

at this stage of necking, from 585 size down to 375 size,

necks are not too thick, and we just make them smooth, Ed

About necking all of cases, the neck is a couple thousands smaller,

measured with bullets in them, than what everyone told us it would be.

They are .401-402" od instead of .403-404", so we

made reamer .405". Ed

Got guys getting excited including family,on 416, so making up 416 cases for

it already and doing final 416 HE, reamer print, have action ready ,

already have a 416 test barrel here to check it in, when they put it in the

action in couple days, and will be testing CEBs with seal band off and long freebore.

I have special mini lathe deal to remove band and even make regular bullets into bore riders,

I had couple other guys wanting 416s, and family wanting one and they are

busy working on it and cases. and making cases with

same neck dies we are doing others with, we just stop 3 steps earlier.

I have my present 375 reamer set with no belt and I just have to ream and use

a 416 throater and neck reamer we have, I have special shorty reamer for the belt.

With this reamer deal I can do different chambers, long cases, experiment, etc. And use 416 throater

and a special neck size reamer. After test firing , I'll have the real accurate measurements for reamer

specs, and have them at reamer guy in few days. Now being bullet is heavier, I'm doing the 416

changes to get greatest case capacity possible, I will keep neck same length, but the bigger

diameter neck with us doing that 416, will move our 30 deg shoulder forward about .034"

and with bigger bore want to go with little bit more shoulder diameter, as long as we have

extremely slow powders to work with.Ed

Thanks-- They are working at it, Posting on a 100 forums about

these necked wildcat cases and the 2 mile shoot has got guys going bonkers to

try these out. And see if they can be competitive..ED

Got a call from Manson today. My reamer should be done in a week.

Got 3 working toward 416 HEs, 5 for 375, more planning,

More pics soon, and will be testing next weight up

of bullets, as soon as wind and zero weather goes away.

Hope it warms in couple weeks. We keep on making cases. Ed

Let us know when you have the dimensions for the 416 nailed down. I'll order up a reamer as soon you've got it figured out.

Yes we are using same process to get 416 dimensions as on 375.

Doing a 416 hydro die, and test gun to double check and have the

416 cases with proper shoulder corner thickness.ED

Working on things, will have more pictures soon,

got 360 gr over 3400 and will go up lot more,

experimenting with freebore and bullet set. Ed
