Speer Bullets

Shot a Bull @ 334yds with 145 G.S.-
284 Win. Browning Micro-Meadallion
Quartering to,passed through Upper leg bone(Tough) recovered just under hide of opposite shoulder.139 gr. retained weight perfect mushroom.Ran 70 yds,Dead.
I've found G.S. bullets retain more weight then Partitions.Partions tend to shed front & retain shank.Less recovered weight.Good Luck
Cool Rifle!, I've got the same .284! Handy little thing. But kicks harder than most rifles. Handloaded 150 grain Power Points at the time.

I have a Sako Mauser rebuild from the 60's 0r 70's in 22-250 with a heavy 16 twist barrel. Couldnt find anything that just shot great until I went to an old load I used 25yrs ago, IMR3031 and Speer 52grHP's. Hammer time. Why it likes the 52's over the lighter bullets I cant figure but that was always a good load in others.

The best load I have for my 280 is the 130 BTSP Speer, the 165 BTSP in 30 cal is crazy accurate in AR10, if I see them I buy them generally as I really like the BTSP. I have had very good results with the match bullets in 223/5.56, 52 to 68 grains. Gold Dots in my handguns where I have been able to get them.

I have also used Speer bullets for decades. Their manual was my first one. When I lived in Alaska Speer bullets were all I could get at Longs Drug Store. Shot Blacktail with both pistol and rifle with Speer bullets and five caribou on the peninsula with 30-06. I still buy them.
Long's drug store had a good reloading section. I still shoot primers that I bought there in the 80's or 90's, and some Speer Grand Slams.

Speer bullets shoot great? C'mon guys hard enough to find bullets so now add Speer to disappearing off shelves!

70TNT .243 is DEADLY for yotes!
180HC .358 great out of .357 MAX!
150HC .270 killed a lot of deer!
