The reason I saw the wolf reg proposal was I needed to print off the Nonresident application.
A hunting license costs me --- $141.50
An elk tag costs me--------------$372.50
A deer tag costs me -------------$258.50
A bear tag costs me--------------$171.75
Total costs of licenses ----------$ 944.25
Throw in several thousands of miles of gas for the truck and it is pretty costly.
I think I am going to let the bear tag go this year. I can't figure out exactly what I would do with a bear if I should kill him and I can always use my deer tag if I should decide to act stupid and shoot one. I have no desire to spend money on a taxidermist to tan the hide and then have to find a place to store the hide here at home. Of course, when I get bored I will oftentimes do something stupid just to relieve the boredom
I suspect that this will be the last year I rifle hunt elk. Win or lose, the challenge of bowhunting is so much more severe than with the long range rifles and equipment that are available today. And the weather is warmer in bow season.
Hopefully, I will draw some antelope tags in Wyoming and get a calm day and a cooperative antelope and we will see just how far a 7AM will smoke some fur.
I still have a 1 in 200 chance of drawing a desert bighorn tag in Nevada.
