After much fanfare & anticipation I regret to inform dedicated Cutting Edge fans that the G10 140grain MTH will in fact, not stabilize in an 8.4” barrel… dern it…:D

Yesterday’s ladder testing @ 400 yards shown keyholes for every round fired (8). 3200 fps with N570 was achievable for this incredibly long bullet ~1.511” but no dice otherwise. I'm confident an 8" twist would have done the trick....lightbulb

I had/have a very well written review awaiting yesterday’s test results. I guess it’ll go into the inactive files. Any of you 160 Matrix shooter care to do some horse trading?

Sorry guys, I was fully confident that my Obermeyer would stabilize them at my altitude (4300ASL). On a positive note, the 130 MTH still continues to hammer @ ~3400fps :D.

Mark, temp was hovering between 60* & 65*. I don't remember what the Kestrel said the Baro was.

I have a feeling these bullets won't stabilize in an 8 twist in low temps and low DA.

    Time will tell

That is possible, but I have no fool proof way of testing that. I was just over the ragged edge. IIRC my Baro Pressure reading was interestingly high which would have dropped the DA a good bit.

G10's are gone! BNG was nice enough to trade me some 160grn Matrix. I guess I'll have to do a write up on those now :D

If you had a low DA that would be good. Hopefully these projectiles work OK in the 8 twist. If they do, you can get Chad to build you a 6.5 Dakota :)

Cutting edge says those bullets need a 7 inch twist. They said a 7.5 might work in some situations. They didn't recommend an 8 ever.

True, but CE was interested in how our testing at higher elevations would turn out. They even provided us with 143 MTAC's, which are basically the same bullet without the hollow point.

I'm running 5600 feet elevation but I can drag them up 6500, 7500 and 8000 feet at spots I shoot a bunch. I can run the Berger 140's 3230 easy so I should be able to push a bore rider a titch more from what I've seen with the CE's in other things I shoot.

I threw some Matrix 142's in the box for ya also Outlaw.

I guess that's why we test :D My target was showing just enough instability to keyhole enough to notice. Accuracy surprisingly, was still pretty dern good; It sure woulda made one heck of a mess out of a coyote! Come to think of it, I never fired a shot at 100yds to see how the holes looked.... oversight on my part I guess.

BNG, thank you for the 142's, I truely appreciate that. Any BC info on those? I've never worked with Matrix.
