Bullets: No time for expansion...

They were Hornady Interlocks that I was referring to.

Two things stand out for me with the Interlock.

First, the jacket thickness lessens towards the tip. Secondly, the core is not bonded to the jacket. This means the bullet will expand very quickly even at low velocity, but that the mushroom petals are very weak.

I believe if you use a stronger bullet, the problem will go away.

Well my girlfriend shot this doe at 62 yards from a 260 Rem 140 grain Berger VLDs around 2975 FPS.
