Going to put a Harrell Tactical (4- port baffle style) brake on my 45 cal smokeless mz, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on what would be the minimum diameter that would still be effective.

The barrel finishes @ .830" at the muzzle. So, ideally, I would like to match that, but will go bigger if I have to.

Obviously, the bigger the better, but is there a good rule of thumb for minimum diameter without really causing performance to fall off?

Thanks!

Surface area of the baffles is the biggest factor. With that .45 cal hole through it, I'd opt for the 1", or a slab style. A flush fit brake will still provide good recoil reduction, just less...
