Going to work on a load for 300 WSM with a buddy, its his gun. Was thinking about the 180 Berger Elite hunting bullet, what powders do any of you like? I see there are even loads with superformance in the 180 grain. His gun is a Browning X-Bolt......

I ended up using RL23 w. 215s in a short barreled .300WSM with fantastic results. RL19 worked well too, but RL23 seemed to give a bit better speeds, lower ES/SD, and slightly better accuracy.

My go to deer, elk and black bear hunting load is:

168 gn barnes ttsx, H4350, 215M primers, Win brass, 3150 ft/s, Hart 22" barrel. Seated .005" off . Not sure what action length is on your browning but beware of long, tipped bullets feeding in short actions.

As I recall the 165/168 have the energy advantage out to about 600 yds and the 180s thereafter.

Hope this helps - good shooting!

I went old tried and true which is unusual for me. Mine is 20 inch barreled and H4350 with the new 175 gr Federal TLR worked well running 2920.

In a Kimber Mountain Ascent I load the 168 TTSX in front of RE 17.
.035 off of lands, Federal 215's. 3200 FPS AVG and under 10 FPS SD.
Under 1/2 MOA out to 800 yards.

RL16 works fabulous up to 180 grain. RL17 with 200 ELDX will get you over 2900 in 24" easily, RL26 is good for me over 180 grain but I still like the RL16 for 180 or less. By using RL16 and RL26 I can pretty much load anything I have. Bought kegs before the crunch came.

I know everyone wants to go heavy but don't discount treating the 300wsm like a super 308. I use Barnes 150gr TSX with imr4064 cooking along at 3200. That load pounds stuff

Actually, the 165 Sierra Gamechanger is right up in the 3200 with RL22 and is solid bullet for elk etc. hard part is to find them! The Nosler ABLR 168 is also in the 3100's with 24" barrel so the mid size can really get out there as well.
