277 170 bergers

Wow! That is a long bullet...I just measured the 170 Bergers and they are around 1.48". Off topic...what kind of freebore are you running in that chamber?

Up the speed with that 27 Nosler :)...I have an accuracy node in my 270 Wby, 170 Bergers, in a long mag box at 3225fps...28" barrel, 1-9 twist...RL 26 powder...

Sorry for the tread hijack GR...:)

It is throated short. Wish it were longer. We are running the load with 83g rl33.

I am running 72 gr of RL 26 @ 3.5" COAL, ES is 10 with a 10 shot group...170 Berger @3225fps...in the 270 Wby. Longest stock mag box (270 Wby) is 3.4". My long mag box allows me to seat them way out there...but it is still 3.5" is the best COAL...

What is the G7 on your 168 .277?

My action has a barrel nut...after seeing how the 170 Bergers grenade in game...getting a 1-7 twist may be an option...shooting your 168s...

We are running at .319 G7. Leaving for a week elk hunt today. Hopefully find some, weather too good though.

I already have a 5r Bartlein that will finish 30 inches and is a 9 twist 1.25 diameter straight barrel.I havent finished it I got started on it before the berger was available I really was building for the 165 matrix I'm hoping it will stabilize the 170s.

Your 1-9 may stabilize them.

I'm running them through my .270 Allen Magnum at 3445fps. It wears a #6 Lilja 1-8 twist, 3 groove barrel (Kirby built) :)

That's awesome performance there for sure.I know that berger made these a hybrid design to be less sensitive to seating depth.I have a sporter barrel 10 twist hart barrel that I shoot the 140 accubond and 140 berger vlds at 3260.They both shoot lights out but the bergers really group after I got the jump to .115 man what a difference.Did you find the 170s to be finicky at all as far as jump tolerance??
