Hard to get ammo for 257Try a 257 Roberts, good killer and easy on the recoil.
I'm sorry do disapoint you but Yes I shoot that 22-250 1000 PLUS yards and hit the target every time, standing and Running. I've had a gun in my hands since I could hold one at 3 yrs old. I shoot a lot and I know my guns. I'm not a weekend shooter I live in Montana and Eastern Montana we have very long shots in the hills for BIG Muley's and Big White Tail. plenty of Coyotes and Fox, towards the middle of the state and further west we have BIG Elk. Unless you have hunted with me don't tell me that I can't shoot that 22-250 1000 Yards. I hand load every round and always the same load. I know where that bullet is going before I pull the trigger. There isn't a 22-250 in the world that will shoot 4300 fps with a 53 gr bullet your dreaming

Sure it will work....is it the best....no. If it is the only gun you have there you go. But we all have a good reason for another gun....22-250 great little varmint cartridge. For deer yes it will kill a deer but if the shot is off. You may never recover the deer. If your looking for a gun for young shooters I would recommend a .243 as the smallest caliber for deer
Michael I think you hit that right on the money. I have shot prairie dogs with my .300 WM, but prefer not to shoot deer with my .223. Since I'm from WY and your from Cali, please don't tell my friends that I agreed with you.If you guys are reading this forum, you have more than 1 gun. Why don';t you use a suitable caliber for deer? If you want to experiment why not try shooting Prairie dogs with a 308 or 45/70. A 22/250 will kill a deer but why? You know it's not the best thing to do!
