140 grain 6.5 berger elite hunter

Going to start with h4350, shooting a Christensen LR mesa 6.5 creedmoor. Does anyone have experience with the elites as far as starting seating depth? Would appreciate any and all input

Thanks I will start there. Planned on starting at 42 grains and working up.2 at a time

Great bullet mine likes .040 off lands. I started at .015 and worked back .025 at a time.

42gn h4350 seems a little high for a starting load.

42 is where I'm at with a 140 eld. I'd start lower. 42.3 is bergers max listed.

If it was me and you have access to a chrono, I would load a one shot ladder from say from 39.5 to 42.9
in .3 gr increments. I would shoot at 200-300 if you can. Look for flat spots in the velocity and a cluster of shots with the same vertical. This way you can find a node and your max pressure in about 12 rounds. Most guys are in the 42-43 range with 140's but ymmv.

My 700Classic 6.5x55 Swede wants the 140 VLD hunter at .005 off the lands. I followed Berger's recommended ladder for hunting VLD seating found on pages 100 & 101 of Berger 1st Edition reloading.

That's one of the good things about the Elite Hunter bullet. While it has a Hydrid nose, it has a tangent ogive. Tangent ogives are known to be less sensitive to seating depth

I've shot the 6.5 elite hunters in 2 diff 6.5saums, .010 off, both very accurate at the seating depth.

What velocities are you getting on these loads? I'm having trouble breaking 2800 without sticky chamber.

I have a Howa 6.5 CM that shoots tiny groups with this bullet over 42.5 grains of H4350. Runs at 2730 fps with 2 fps extreme spread
