I'm lookin for some help. I'm searching for a scope for my Remington 700 7mm mag and I need a scope, problem is I don't have a bunch of money for a scope. Does anybody know f a high powered scope that will hold up to the recoil of this gun? But something that isn't going to break the bank too. Anything will help

Depends on your budget, but yes there are lots of options. I have two 7mags, one has Nikon Monarch and the other a Vortex Viper. Of the two I definitely prefer the viper and you can get them for under $400.

As long as you get good glass, you wont need a bunch of magnification. I run a leupold 3.5-10x-40mm scope on mine. 11 years of flogging, has never missed a beat. Also look at Zeiss, 3-9x conquest, buy it all day long for $399. Holds up to the wife's 300win mag. Thing is, if you dont put good glass on it, you will hate the gun later when you cant get it sighted in, cant get good groups due to distortion or shoddy scope quality, etc. Save up for at least a decent scope, or you will buy two in the end. A junk one, and a good one after it costs you a hunt.

"won't break the bank" is the key. Just how much are you willing to spend? In my virtually useless opinion, buy the best glass you can afford. Duh! Without being ridiculous, your optic is your connection with your target be it paper and/or a game animal. It's silly to buy a high end camera and then scrimp on the lens since the lens will make or break your image. Binos same call. When I was a young punk vs an old punk with a '68 396 Camaro the question was (and still is) "how much horsepower can you afford?". Ok, lecture done. If you can afford a Zeiss Conquest scope, especially with the Rapid Z configuration, buy it. I guarantee you will never be sorry. I have had many a scope and will say, to a point, you get what you pay for. Zeiss has some rebates that make the scope prices even more tantalizing and, if memory serves, are good to year's end. The Nikon Monarch I have on a Rem 700 P (.308 tactical rifle) is very good. Leupolds have a decent track record but of late people are complaining about the build quality. Bottom line: establish your available funds and shop for the best clarity. Be sure to compare apples to apples. Look at a vaiable scope's power range and shop one bran to another at that power range or as close as possible. Thus far I have scoped everything I have purchased in the last three years with a Zeiss Conquest scope in differing powers, all rapid Z. Yes, they're that good!

You really can't change the scopes lenses, reticle, etc. on any scope yourself and expect it to work unless you work at a scope factory. The scopes are gas filled and have a specific sealing process that really only the factory can do in a very controlled situation. Not unlike the proviso on so many electronics: no customer serviceable parts. Even if you could, the cost for different lenses would make the plan impossible. Bottom line, buy the best scope you can afford now. Could be a second hand scope from a trusted friend but I would be wary about second hand scopes. Maybe it's someone who wants to upgrade or maybe it's from someone who has a certified lemon and wants to off-load it on some guy who just doesn't know any better. Hopefully their might be a fine soul on this site who has just the ticket for you!

I just purchased from Camera World, a sponser listed here on the BB....a 6.5-20X50 Zeiss Conquest for the amazing price of $695. It is a trade show demo. Ya cant beat that price and I know what Im getting quality-wise because I already have one identical to it.
