Planning my 40 yo birthday present

Screw the rifle, get a new mid engine Corvette. You can use it every day! Ever hear a beautiful woman say oh wow, that's a nice rifle?
Boys with fancy cars are compensating for a low esteem in their life that can't be fulfilled.

Men don't look for that and a real woman looks for REAL MEN. IN THE REAL WORLD!

The men and women on LRH look for the real things in life.
God Family Country!!!!

Maybe... but hey there is a lot of Gucci carbon wrapped sitka clothed insecurity in this world as well...

Easier to chuckle at a dude in a toupee in a mid engine car.... but they could probably say the same about a lot of hobbies. Ours included.

Not insecurity to love high performance automobiles. Put a rifle rack on it somewhere if you need to! 😁

Great idea put a gun rack with a 33-30 Winchester and a Model 70 along with a 700 Rem over that mid engine and get both women from sporting cars to Real men Hunting. 🤣
I used to burn the tires off of my 1969 Ford F-100 Ranger with a 360 engine. I was the first guy to go to the Prom with a Pickup Truck. The next year you should have seen all the 4X4 s those young women were wanting to ride in!
We lived in the country so the guy with the built up, big tires, loud exhaust 4X4 was the one the girls went after. The Corvettes and Muscle cars stayed in the Carol's, Stop &Go Burger Joint's parking lots (before Burger King & McDonalds) smoking their tires off.
Us guys with the Pickups were in the back of the farmers' fields partting!

"Dream rifle" and then going on about factory rifles and KRG stocks...

I guess your dreams and my dreams are two wholly separate levels! 🤪 😆 😆
Please give better ideas with good justification? Not looking to burn money for nothing just for fun, there's better places for that money, but looking for something that can be used for decades and puts a smile on the face.

Btw, based on my experience 99% of the people interested in Corvettes or Porsches are men...

We had a place called Lee's drive in. Everyone circled trying to get a spot to park. 1967-68. Got my butt drafted shortly after that!

I see my midlife crisis joke fell flat. But I'd still take the vette.

if you have a 30-06 why back up into a 308? Kinda like having a corvette and buying yourself a chevette for a birthday present.
True that as well, although two rifles with the same caliber but different barrels, stocks and scopes can be completely different animals.

Creedmoor kind of sounds tempting although I've never had, and nowadays even cannot have a man bun.

Some guys just like a fast car.
My kids got big enough they wouldn't fit in the back seat of the Camaro SS anymore. The wife wouldn't let me sell the kids, so the car turned into a new Silverado with the same engine. Right now I'm contemplating another vehicle purchase, but the pricing is a flat out joke. My current pickups were both bought new and have less than 100K between the two, so I really don't need to replace them. All I know right now is by fall I've got more money open in the budget... It could get interesting.

The 308 struggles a lot on being a rifle cartridge. It's actually better in a bolt action pistol. Even then, a 300 wsm is better.

Jo Boy - 40ish is a magic number for all red blooded Hiawatha's in good kameraden standing. Reward yourself quietly and humbly praise the Lord for a custom built 25-06 - maybe in AI too, Sako action with a 70 degree lift & 5 + 1 capacity, 25 5/8" Shilen stainless & fluted barrel, Boyd walnut laminated stock, light weight Vortex 4 x 12 Vanquish with a 2 3/4 lb. touch-off in a 7 lb. total rig.

Now, you've got yourself a beautiful light rifle that's as much enjoyable viewing and handling as well as grouping consistently .05 moa at 100 yards!

"Vunderbar" - my late Danish Father would exclaim..!
