I bought one of these rifles for mountain hunting in British Columbia. I am using Nosler brass and 130 Berger VLD's. I was wondering if you folks have any starting loads for the .260 and the 130 VLD's. Thanks!

well first off I'll give you my oppinion on the Nosler brass , stop wasteing your money ,get some 243 Lapau and neck it up , it will allow higher pressures and its WAY more consistant.

I'm useing N-165 out of mine with 140gr bullets , the 160 might be a btter choice for a little shorter barrel and lighter bullet , also 4831 and 4350 showed good results in my 260 , again I only used the 140gr bullets

I loaded the 120gn NBT for my son's .260 Mountain Rifle LSS. I used Rem brass, 46.5gn H4350, 9.5 primers and OAL of 2.1605" (ogive to base). This load gave me .3" groups at 100yds and velocities averaged 2980. JohnnyK.

In my 260 Mountain Rifle LSS, I tried to get 129 Hornady's to shoot with I4350, Varget, RL19, and I4064, couldn't find anything much under 2moa. 140 amaxes with RL19, slightly better, 120 Btips over I4350 brought it down to about 1.5.

Switched to 100gr Btips and dropped under MOA, With 42.5 I4064 and a rem 9.5 giving me best accuracy (small) at about 3000fps.

I will have to go back and revisit the 120's with H4350.

Thanks!,

Shummy

I've had good luck and good accuracy with 38 grns. of IMR 4350. The muzzle velocity is around 2600 fps.
You may also want to try H 4831/sc. Check your Berger loading manual, they have some good loads with powder you may already have.

Remington brass, 42 grains of H4350, CCI BR2 primers and 140g Amax's shoots a one ragged hole 5 shot group for me @100. It's a pretty light load at ~2660 fps. Been thinking of trying to squeeze some more speed out of it but it is pretty accurate...

42-45 gr of 4350 or 38-41gr of varget. Start them at a .010 jam get you ocw group then back off in .005 increments till you find the sweet spot.
