Any one using it on a hunting rig?

I love 1x scopes and I'm pretty comfortable shooting with 10x to any distance that I've tried, out to 600+ yards. so dropping to 8x doesnt seem like too much of a loss.

17 ounces, so a touch lighter then my NXS 2-10.

It's going on a packing rifle, so shots likely to be below 200 yards. 500+ would be unlikely.

Quick question.....Do you like hunting with a FFP scope?

Our pleasure to discuss this, as well as other options with you

I've never even looked thru a FFP scope. So that is a big unknown for me. But I did enjoy a red dot that I borrowed, so hoping that at 1x it would be similar to that.

i'll be using one my 6.5 grendel this fall to hunt whitetails. i can only shoot to about 300 yards depending on where i am on my property. i dont expect to take a deer at more than 100 though just because of where my stand is located. so a 1-8 would be plenty. i wouldnt hesitate to use it out to 300 if the chance arose.

I think for hunting from up close and personal out to 500 yards, a 1-8x would be fine. I just shot my pronghorn @ 445 with my scope set on 7x. Didn't feel underpowered in the least.

The center dot is 1.25 MOA, at 8x magnification... that seems a bit heavy. That covers a 3.75" circle at 300 yards. Anyone have an issue with that while hunting?

I think the 1-8 would make a great hunting scope. I really wonder about people you see putting 8-32 on hunting guns. Do they pack in concrete benches on their hunts?
I have seen those characters once in the Unitas.... big rifles, on tripods mounted on the cab of a truck about as far up the track they could get..... I avoid those characters whenever possible

Covers 6.25" @ 500 yards. While heavy, put that dot center mass on a deer and you get what you see. I am betting your rifle shoots better than 1.25 MOA, the center dot size, so you have a "worse case scenario" for bullet POI.
Might be kind of tough for prairie dogs however.
