This rifle is based on the wildcat Rich Sherman (elkaholic) created. If you haven't heard of the round or what it's capable of, do a forum search and you'll get an idea of how deadly efficient this wildcat is on anything it's been pointed at. I got some bears (40-200 yards) with it this past season and Rich's friend destroyed a deer at long range (600+ I think)!
The sale will include:
Custom Whidden die set
40+ pieces of Norma once fired, fire-formed brass, there are more pieces that have been fired a few times, as well as loaded up rounds too
50+ Matrix 150gr VLDs
And obviously the rifle...
Rifle information:
Stainless Howa 1500 donor rifle (original, unfired 270 Win barrel is available for sale too - $100 OBO)
Bartlein 5r 3B contour barrel, finished at 24''
6 flutes cut in barrel
Custom muzzle brake matching barrel contour
Glass bedded action/barrel
Barrel is free floating in a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock
I've fired somewhere between 80-100 rounds through this gun since I put it together but there's other things on my list taking priority over this gun right now and it's got to go.
It shot extremely accurate (<1/2'' 5 shot groups) for me loading the Matrix VLDs to an OAL of 3.43'' and pushing them with H50BMG. I could run them up to 3180FPS with RL33 but the accuracy wasn't quite as good (only 3 shots instead of 5). Didn't bother me for hunting though. I also used MagPro but it wasn't as accurate as either of the other two powders for me.
All together, I put $1900+ into this rifle and it was a fun project to put together. I knew going into the build I wouldn't recoup my money if I decided to sell, but hopefully I can get some of it back.
$1600 for everything or make me an offer. I'm in Texas.
PM me for pics of targets, the rifle, or any questions you have.
All mounted up and ready to go!
Pre-fluting
This was a hunting/fishing trip I snapped a few pics of.
