I have been making precision projectiles since 1960's using J4 jackets. I understand the original four owners who started the jacket business all came from Sierra and had names starting with J, hence the J4 brand. The company seemed to change their policy numerous times but some years later gave sole agency to a projectile maker named Walt Berger who acquired the business from one of the remaining J's. The jackets were very precise, quoting 2/10's thou concentricity 1/16th of an inch up from the base. That's what the business is founded on, supply of precise tackets and projectiles. Barrels shot with J4's seem to copper foul less so I wouldn't like to see them change.
