I'm trying to decide what options I should get on my new stock for my Remington 721 rebarreled to 6mm Remington. It has a Pac-nor #5 contour stainless match cut at 24 inches. I'm going to get one of the sporter stocks, but I'm not sure which one. I know with a little work on the area around the safety lever and replacing the trigger guard the conversion will work. One of the stocks appears to be a classic style while the other I'm looking at has a built-in cheek piece.
1)Do I need a built-in cheek piece or go with the classic style?
2)How about the mercury recoil reducer, will it help with the overall balance of the rifle? I have an HS sporter on one of my short actions Remingtons in 6mm BR and it feels a little light in the rear. I'm wondering if the extra 8 ounces that the mecury recoil reducer provides will be enough. I know its 8 ounces because I called HS and asked.
