Scirocco. I ran out of ABs last year before my rifle elk hunt. Got my hands on a bunch of 180 TTSX. They shot just as well as the ABs, but the week before the hunt i just happened upon a big thread on here about horror stories with that exact bullet on elk. Was too late to change at that point, and just crossed my fingers and went. Long story short, shot a great bull broadside at 120yds. Shot was an inch or so behind the crease, punched a rib on the way in and proceeded to pencil a tiny hole through both lungs before exiting. Gave him 30 as i knew the shot was perfect. Walked up on him and he got up and ran off with a perfectly placed red spot on his side. Not even a limp. Caught up with him about 50 mins later. Down and clearly sick, but needed a neck shot. 300 WM at 120yds should have been a little more devastating, especially after center punching a rib. Anyhow, a small sample size, but the thread on here was pages and pages of similar stories. Ymmv, but something to consider. Alloys seem to vary greatly between batches. I shot a black bear with a 250gr ttsx out of my 375 ruger and you could have thrown a cat through that hole. All that to say i wont be using any TTSXs on anything but paper in the future. Good luck on your hunt!
