Alright now I’m gonna make people mad 🤣 The .243 Winchester. Overrated turd of a cartridge. I once heard a gun writer call it the two-forty-why? And I get it. Also, I own a .243 and will never part with it, an old savage 99 of sentimental value because of who gave it to me. My kids will probably shoot that hateful round as their first centerfire rifle 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But that loooooong sloping shoulder, short little neck…it’s like it was designed from The ground up to be a non-magnum throat eater haha. The 6mm Remington and the newer 6 creed are far better designed all around. The .243 as a women and kids cartridge is overrated. As a pure varmint cartridge It’s overkill. As a big game round it’s under kill. The smaller 30-06, a jack of several trades and a master of none. A compromise. And compromise is the art of ensuring neither side actually gets what they want. If you can take the kick of a .243 you can easy handle the 6.5 creed or 7-08. And I don’t care that people have a problem with the creedmoor, it’s just preaching to the choir here, congrats on having the same opinion as 95 percent of the others and declaring it from the rooftop! 🤣 The 6.5 is way more reliable to create exit wounds which is important to me. Far better big game cartridge.
