GLOVES: Often when wearing rain gear when hunting or just backpacking in the fall the rain is so cold you need neoprene gloves to keep your hands warm. The wrists of the gloves need to be long enough to fit inside the rain parka cuffs. AND the parka sleeves must have enough extra length to easily cover the wrist area when reaching, say, for a handhold when climbing up a steep area. That's one reason I always buy Tall size GTX hunting parkas. (I'm 5' 10") The other reason is to keep my butt well covered. I only wear GTX gloves when it's below 32 F. and in wet snow at the most but not in rain B/C they do eventually wet thru. IMO GTX gloves need a fairly water resistant or waterproof palm and finger area. Good GTX ski gloves often have this. Eric B.
