Fall hunting in Montana starts in September and ends in November (well, now if you're unlucky enough to still have a tag you can get a week in December to hunt with a ML), I try to get down to AZ for archery deer and javelina in January. Usually any free time spent between MT rifle and AZ archery is spent waterfowl hunting. After that's over there should be enough ice on the lakes that it's time to start drilling holes and catching fish. Right now is my longest off-season, when the ice is unsafe and I'm waiting for spring bear and turkey, I use this time to get stuff ready for the garden and spring chickens. Spring bear starts in a month and that leads into late-spring or early-summer, where it's either catching fish on a fly rod or spinning and bait casting rods all summer. Summer usually also consists of a lot of loading ammo and testing loads and doing my best to shoot as much as possible. That takes me all the way to September when archery elk gets going again. Where's the off-season? I need a couple of extra months to relax.
