I am in the market for a new lightweight, short barrel hunting rifle. Looking for really light. Looking for 20" barrel or shorter in 6.5 to 30 cal. Weight is to be 6.5lbs and under for rifle alone. Will be using a suppressor. So needs to be threaded 1/2 28 or 5/8 24.

Was thinking for hunting large game like elk out to 300 yards. So 308 or a 6.5 GAP or 300 saum at most a wsm.

Hi Brian-I killed 2 deer at 476yds and 490 with this rifle, or do you mean larger than deer?

I already have a 6.5 GAP 4s. It has a 26" barrel and ways 6lbs 13oz. Thinking a 6.5 GAP with a 20" barrel, or 308 with 18" barrel. Also maybe a 300 saum with 18-20" barrel. I live in Idaho. So large whitetail and mule deer along with elk and bear.
