Viper HST vs PST

I am considering getting a 6-24X50mm viper scope. I want the exposed turrets and the ability to have a zero stop. I like the idea of a first focal plane scope but it isnt really all that important to me, nor is a lighted reticle. So, what are the other differences between the scopes? I have heard that the PST has an etched glass reticle and the HST has a wire one. The scope will be put on a semi-custom 300 RUM. Pros and Cons for both?

I am also considering splurging a bit and getting the 5-25 Conquest HD5.

Thanks in advance

I have used both the 4-16 PST and HST and the reticle is heavier( .1 vs. .15) on the HST, noticeable but not too bad. Personally have never found a use for the illuminated reticle.
