Thought it would be a good time for an update. I ordered the dies from Ben Syring at Hornady. So hopefully by next month we can get some real testing done. I ran into a bit of a snag with Bertram Brass. I knew they were hard but I thought if I annealed them they would soften up enough to fireform. Unfortunately not the case (pun intended). The stretch was too much for the brass and split it. Even at a medium/conservative load of 7828SSC. So my next option is Norma. I know Norma made Weatherby brass back in 2007, but I'm not sure if that is still the norm. My other choice was Weatherby Magnum brass. Since you get 20 Weatherby brass for the same price you get 25 Norma, I figured it was a safe move. My experience with Norma is that its a bit softer than others so that hopefully will work to our advantage as well. I will anneal the brass as soon as I get it and load up a few to see if we can get them to work. On a side note, there is a big and exciting announcement coming soon!! It just may be the last gun in the Z Trilogy!!! This one will be by far the most tricky. However, In my opinion I have the best team of people that could be assembled. I'm just finishing up the reamer drawing. I need more kids...I'm having way too much fun with these. Ummm wait....on second thought I'm happy with 3. :D
