These rifles are know for hairline cracks in the tang area of the stock. Barreled action was pulled and bedded.

I asked, because I used to work for a smith in Westminster MD, he sold a good deal of Sako's...back then mainly in 7mm STW, but the brake on this one looks very similar to his work.

Could have been him. My hunting partner lived in rural NY.. he was an active member here and went by the handle Philny1.
