I have been wanting to try some RL33 in my 338 RUM for some time now and I finally found a couple of pounds the other day. Today I loaded up some test rounds with 300 gr OTM's and started with 99.0 grs. I set up my chronograph and fired a cold bore shot with my H-1000 load of 90.0 gr with the OTMS. 2759 was the first shot followed by a second shot at 2794. I followed with the RL33 test loads. Two shots, 2716 and 2713. So the big question is how do I get enough powder in the case to achieve the benefit of the supposed added velocity. I did mange to get 101.0 grs in several other test loads, but I am seriously compressing powder. Before I seated the bullets, I placed the case with powder on top of my case tumbler and vibrated the powder charge for about 30 seconds. Any thoughts?
