Hey all. Has anyone here dabbled with Retumbo in the 3006 with the 200gr or heavier bullets? Just curious. I've never seen anything in print to that effect. Thanks a bunch.

Otter,

Retumbo is just way too slow for the 30-06 in any bullet weight. You can't fit enough powder in the case to be able to get any worthwhile velocities. You'd be better served with H4831, IMR7828 or similar burn rate. I use H4350 in my .30-06AI for anything from 165g to 190g.

Hope this helps,

Dan

Agreed. Retumbo would be way too slow for the '06 case's capacity. I use 7828 SSC in my .30-06 AI with Berger 185 VLD's.

A standard -06 case can be overbore for some calibers/bullets. My 25-06 does really well with Retumbo and bullets in the 115-120 grain weight class.

I've not seen any Retumbo reload data for 30-06.

Me either. figured it was too slow. I was just curious if anyone had ventured there. Thanks for the replies fellas.
