Have an Old School Factory Walnut Contender grip Set for sale. Set comes with two forends. One forend fits 10 inch round barrel. Other forend you don't see often. I have only seen a couple in last 50 years. It fits Octagon barrels. The rare part of it is that it is a snap on forend (SEE PICTURES). Notice no hole through it. Just push and pull to install/remove. Also included is snap bolt to replace standard dovetail lock and bolt. Grip fits original Contender (NOT G-2). It is in excellent condition. All bolts and mounting screws are included. NO TOP HAT Look close at pictures as these are the actual items.

My hunting friend for over 50 years (was like my second dad) had a contender I think it was a .256. Well anyway a few years ago he started having some issues remembering he is now 93. He could not get the pistol to break open so he banged it on the but stock and split the wood. I would like to get it fixed for him. He is now in an upscale nursing home (sucks), but we are in GA and he is in PA/ His two remaining sons can't take care of him.
I would like to fix for him, but do not know the exact model, I contacted his one son for info. He might not even remember what the Contender is that was a gift to him 50+ years ago, BUT want to try.
What do I need to get off of his Contender to see if your wood will fit?

The forend with the hole in it will fit any round 10 inch barrel. The snap on forend fits a hex barrel with snap on stud (Pictured below) and the grip will fit all contenders EXCEPT THE G-2. Hope this helps

Don't know what I was thinking last night. It will fit any Octagon barrel because a Snap dovetail is included

Just for information. This grip set was original equipment on a 5 digit serial number frame. The frame it came on was made in 1972
