I visited the USS Wisconsin when I was in Norfolk. You don't realize how small you are until you stand under the 16" guns! Impressive

YEP!
A 16" is the ID of the Barrel and they are called a "16" 50 Caliber". There is a calculation used for the Guns in one of the Links I posted in Post #1.
It is actually a 16" ID X 66' barrel and the OD is probably 2'+ at the muzzle and 3'+ at the breach. So it is very BIG when standing next to it!!!!
