It is the blued version. Shoots well, but I have another 243 (pre-64) that I like better and don't need two. Once the little barrel heats up, it sprays them around as you would expect. For the 1st few shots, it's an accurate little gun. I also have the wood stock that has been partially refininshed. It will go with the gun as well.

It shot very well with 75 grain v-max loads and was my "truck gun" for coyotes.

I just bought my oldest daughter a SS 7 in 243 and was looking for another SS 7 for my youngest daughter too, but $600.00 was hard to choke down. My sons 308 M70 classic compact was $500.00 and that was reasonable. I'll keep yours in mind if I decide on the chromoly action. She may like the "color".
