The longest 30-06 sniping shot confirmed was actually made in WWI and was by SGM (American Expeditionary Forces) Herbert Sleigh at 1400 yards. Every verified kill beyond 1476 yards was made by a 50 BMG or by a 338 Lapua, with the exception of a couple of snipers who used the 14.5X144mm Russian Heavy Machine Gun round.
