..... and you order online ...... do you look at the amount of tax they are charging you?

Recently I was placing an order at Sinclair/Brownells and noticed the tax they were charging me was 8.3%. This might not be a big deal if I lived in one of the larger cities. But I live in the country, out of town. Usually an online retailer would charge me the county tax rate of 3.5%.

I used their online chat to ask about the tax charged and the person said that was the way it is.

Do any of you have a problem of not getting charged the correct tax rate by an online retailer?
 
Yes, I have had higher rates charged as I live in a lower tax rate even for the county. They are "required" by the gov to charge and remit based on zip code and local rate. The state you live in will then remit to your jurisdiction. We all know how well things work when the gov gets involved. Kind like the IRS collecting 100's of millions on fake Social Securtity numbers.
