The Basics, Starting Out
I started with a 308 Win, and after thinking I'd move on to other cartridges I'm still shooting it.
Chub Eastman shot a moose up in Alaska using a 30-06 and 165gr Partition. I though it was too light a bullet for moose, but I'm not going to argue with anyone that has his experience. Another guy was using 173 gr FMJ for grizzly, but i agree I'd be using something else. But I have a friend that has a pretty good arsenal including magnums. But he usually takes his elk with a 308 Win and hand loaded 165gr PT's. His best bull fell to that set up. A 3-15X or 1-10X would be sweet. I'm on the cheap so I'm considering swapping a 10X SWFA on my PSS. It's had a VariXIII LR 4.5-14X50 on it for thirty years. Mildot ret and MOA dials lol. The mil/mil SWFA is just easier to play with.
