[QUOTE="Paladin300, post: 2863851, member: 115299"] You won’t regret it. Just stock up on enhanced extractors if you plan to push the pressures. I have mainly Sako rifles but one of my customs is a 6.5x284 Norma on a custom Savage 111 donor action that started life as a 25/06 (original build was a 6.5 man bun, hence the blown extractors). The rifle, as bad as I hate to admit it because I use to be a Savage hater and a little bit of a gun snob 😁, is probably my favorite rifle. It is a legit 1/4 moa gun. It will humble the biggest of gun snobs 😉, granted it is about a $2500.00 build without the scope, bi-pod and accessories. My only complaint with the Savage is the bolt throw, yet the custom bolt in mine is smooth as glass, just wish it was 60-70’ instead of 90’. It won’t matter much to you coming from a Remington action. Savage is a great action to build on especially for someone on a budget or wanting to learn the ins and outs of building their own rifle.
