Thinking of putting one together before the PA shoot. I have the tripod and monopod leg but what did you use for your top? Thinking a sheet of 3/16" or 1/4" aluminum would be fine...??

it is aluminum, 10.75" x 13" not sure of the thickness will measure and get back to you on that measurement.
it is working out pretty good, can break it down and carry all components in a backpack. just need to paint it now.
