I'm new to this game and all ears. I only hope my old tired eyes can meet the challange. I've never shot BP but am willing to learn. My entire shooting career has been smokless (pistol, shotgun, rifle) and I've been hand loading for over 40 years. Just not BP.

Don't concern yourself with the BP thing. Not much long range opportunity in it.

As for tired old eyes. I wouldn't worry about that either. Heck, the lens in my eyes are plastic as are the lens in my bifocals.

Glass in scopes/binos/spotters is the great equalizer. Pricey but worth it.

RoyInIdaho,

Thanks for the reply, I've got most all of the glass needed(spotting, glasses, etc.) to get on the range. I'm not set up for casting or loading BP (drop tubes, powder measure, etc.). I am just going to "dip my toe into the Long Range shootging water with some Laser Cast or Buffalo Arms lead and smokless to start.
