What is the recoil pad on the stock?

This is a weatherby vanguard king action sporter barrel carbon stock. This is a bl from the new weatherby carbon series. It has imperfections on the carbon weave. Nothing a little paint wouldn't hide. Perfect candidate for a sponge camo paint scheme. Weight is 21 oz. I went with a more vertical grip stock.

I can't imagine a carbon stock this cheap, wish it was for a savage.
