My first bow kill was a button buck when I was 13 years old. Back then you had to be 14 to hunt with a rifle in MI. My first season when I was 12 I missed a spike horn but never got a deer. My first night out in my second season this deer walks past at 8 yards and I thought hey there’s a deer I should shoot it! Didn’t even look to see what it was. I had a bear golden eagle compound set to 45lbs and 100gr 4 blade muzzy broadheads. I put the pin on the deer and the arrow zipped through both lungs and buried itself in the dirt. That deer ran 60 yards and piled up. I was shaking so bad that when my dad came to get me (he was 60 yards away watching all this since we were in some pretty open hardwoods) I almost fell down the ladder. My dad had actually seen the deer drop but didn’t tell me. We started looking for blood of which there was plenty and followed a very easy blood trail to the deer.
