Can I use this scope on my .44 Magnum?

Hi Guys,

I have a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x40mm / Boone & Crocket Reticle. Will this be OK
to mount on my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Magnum / 7.5" SS revolver?

I have the 1" rings for the .44 magnum to match the 1" tube. Just wondering
if you think this would work.

The very short eye relief on your Leupold rifle scope will make using the revolver VERY difficult to use, if not impossible IMO. Even handgun scopes are not all that easy to use on handguns but at least the eye relief is long enough (hopefully) that a handgun can be held normally.

Try holding or temporarily securing the 3.5x10 scope to the handgun so that you can try to just aiming the set-up at a target.

In doing more research, I'm finding out that the eye relief is going to be an issue. I guess I could try it out as you suggest just to see how effective it is...
or isn't.

Varmint Hunter hit the nail on the head. Eye relief is critical on handgun scopes. Using a riflescope will eventually result in "wearing the scope" due to recoil, IF you managed to even see your target.

Also various manufacturers provide different eye relief for their handgun scopes. If you have long arms, you will probably prefer a Bushnell because Leupold and Burris choose field of view over eye relief and end up with a "short" eye relief.

Make sure to use "heavy duty" rings and bases also. Proper mounting techniques are also critical. Recoil from even a .44 mag subjects mounting systems to more stress than do a lot of the big bore rifles.
