Fast forward to 2021😂! Since the OP did not state factory rifle, the good old .270 Win built with fast twist 1:8, longer barrel, LA with COAL, throated for longer higher BC Bullets like 170EOL, 156HH, 140BD2, Cutting Edge et al. is totally different cartridge. I built one on 700LA, 1:8 27" Preferred Barrel, 0.290 freebore added, max COAL 3.65. This old school high pressure cartridge topped out at 3285fps with 156HH (pic added) and RL26. Berger 170EOL touched 3100+ but settled in at 3075. This rifle has been a real hoot to shoot since pretty much anything had been sub 1/2MOA. I killed my biggest WT this year with this rifle and the 156HH delivered as expected. Its not a glitzy new cartridge with metric moniker but if built with the right twist and throat, you can take advantage of the high pressure design to achieve much higher velocities with heavier bullets. We had some fun naming this rifle on LRH but maybe we missed the mark and should have called it 6.8 Thors Hammer?
