Just as a suggestion. I have two methods of storage for ammo while hunting. my backpack has a secure flap on it and that holds my ready to use immediate access ammo (like Westex91 uses). then I have a waterproof, shock proof, I have a pelican case that holds three smaller pelican cases with 20 rounds of ammo each. This is for when I carry ammo for more than one gun on a hunt that Pelican case is my best friend. The small cases can hold 20 rounds of each of three calibers for me. then I have a rolling gear ammo pouch as stated before. this means any of the three guns I have brought (if I bring more than one gun on a hunt) I can have 2 full boxes of ammo for each. Base camp is where the big pelican with ammo stays once I am up there. the small pelican and my rolling gear ammo case go in my back pack and I am off. the 3 box pelican stays at base camp. the reason for the rolling gear is immediate access, the small pelican is for the SHTF time when I am out and get caught in a down pour and can not get out of it in time and my rolling gear ammo gets drenched. I do water seal the rolling gear but I have been in rain storms that drench me from head to foot in a matter of a few moments. it's not pretty. so the small pelican keeps the other ammo dry and safe. BTW both ammo cases in my backpack are silent. it is a thing of beauty.
