Never lost a firearm in transit, but I have on a couple of occasions experienced a day or two with it “lost”, but eventually found. I did, in every occasion, make a “huge stink” with the airline management. About 10 years ago my buddies and I started to fly First Class when traveling with my firearms, making sure that all bags had the big red “Priority Tag” attached to each bag and the gun case at check-in. Costly, but we have not had an issue or late arrival of my firearm or baggage since doing this.
