I own a Portugal built M 70 in .375 H&H and a pre-64 M70 in .264. The fit and finish on the newer is equal to say the least. The quality of the machining is as expected from modern machines. The pre-64 has been tuned and operates flawlessly. The new one is built better. While the factory twist on the .264 is 1:9 it groups 90 to 140 under 1/2” at 200yds. I have others to fill the heavier gap so no need to go heavier. I still have and load the hornday pre interlock 140 gr and they are excellent along with Sierra 120 BTSP and 140GK. I also have several 140 Winchester 140gr Power-Points (factory yellow box) from the 70’s and they all shoot at 1” or better. It was my father’s gun now mine and while a little light for Elk I have used it for everything smaller. It das done the job on many OR, WA, ID, WY, and now SD whitetail and mule deer. It was just re-barreled with a pre-64 takeoff and shoots better than ever.
