Hello all Aviators!
I was in the 1st Marine Air Wing located in Iwakuni/Oki Japan in '75' and we had F-4 Pathom's, Harrier Jump Jets, A-6 Intruders, A-4s, the Habu SR-71 but the HOG didn't come out until later in other Conflicts. The HOG is probably the Greatest Troop Ground Support Aircraft ever designed.
Anyone here FLY or Ground Crew with the HOG???
I have had conversations with Pilots flying the U-2 and have some of the Traditional "$2' Bills from each Flight the Pilot made.
Unfortunately, all my "Stuff" from the 1st Marine Air Wing Fighter Jets are gone with the exception of a few Radio Logs I still have for Strikes I was involved in.

Sadly, I only flew rotor wing in my career, for I would have loved to have flown jets.

Our uncle was USAF for 22 years and USN 4 years, and he flew F-86, F-104's in VN, A-4's in VN, U-2 for 2 years with a couple of times over the USSR, and he was trained on a couple of others. He was shot down once flying the F-104, but after a couple of weeks in a jungle POW camp, he escaped and made it back.

A buddy of mine who was a Ranger told me about one of his missions in Afghanistan. He was in urban firefight and got smoked in the back by a round, luckily hitting his pack and only knocking him down without entry. Called in a Hog to the building where shooter was with the 30's rocking obliviating the building. Pilot when heading in telling him "danger close, danger close", but he was like "F that" I'm watching this!

Those A-10's are very effect, intimidating beasts!

In the early 80's I worked as a civilian engineer at Davis Monthan AFB and used to enjoy watching them fly around.

As always, thank you for your service and to everyone that served. I'm just amazed at the air power. The Spectre Gunship is also one of the aircraft's that I would hate to see if I was an enemy combatant.

When I was in the Marines we called it "PUFF the MAGIC DRAGON" for CAS. It could put a 7.62 round in every sqft in a Football Field when making a Fire Pass. These were the first "Spector Gunships" made from a C-130. That was 50 years ago! I have heard them called the "Angel" now and have superior Armament!

Mark, thank you for your service! I was in the Army and at Ft. Campbell watched a fire power demonstration done by (I think) an F4 Phantom. Pilot came "sneaking" over the hill we were on and hit the afterburners! Very loud and we all grabbed dirt! LOL.
Later in civilian life I was honored to be selected to fly the back seat of an F4 Fantom. That was absolutely the thrill of a lifetime! My pilot was a Delta pilot and did air national guard on weekends. We asked him what was left to do. He said, " I want to do a cat launch, but not a landing on it!" I knew I had a very smart pilot.
