62gr ELD-VT in Tikka 22-250

Recently acquired a Tikka T3 Lite in 22-250 with a 1:8 twist barrel. Stability calculator shows marginally stable (1.38- 1.43 depending on conditions).

Anyone have any experience with this combo. Wondering what others have found. Do they stabilize. Calculator says they'll be over 1.5 by 100 yards.Aside from the propaganda machine, what I've been able to find is mixed results at best.

Bullet length per caliber is the factor unlike weights. Unless either is as long as the 75eld-m or the 88eld-m an 8 is supposed to be fine (temp and elevation being some of that equation).

Seems to be some disagreement, but I think it's the same length as the 77 eld-m, but with the lead cut shorter to reduce the weight. Large void behind the tip.

Getting into that lengths it could need a 7.5-7, but the 88's from what I can remember uses an 8? Anything less within the same length should also use an 8. Gave you shot any yet or making sure on stability before loading/buying any?

Haven't shot any yet. Probably buy a couple boxes to try. They're cheap enough.

Think they're marketed toward their new ARC cartridge. Alot of those seem to have 7-7.5 tw.. Perhaps the Creedmoor family as well.

Although the new cartridges from Hornady use a faster twist i don't believe it's needed in most cases! Like the 22arc with a 7 or 7.5 twist as both are geared towards "new and improved ", but nothing really new about either. I thought some might chime in that have actual experience with these bullets would post, but none so far. Watch rpm's with that light weight as velocity should be under 3,555 with an 8 twist to be under 320,000 rpm.

Agree on the velocity. Itoo, thought there may be more with experience responding. They've been out over a year now. I wonder what that could mean.

Start with Hornady 75gr ELD-M, H4350, Federal 210M primers, and work up a load. I suspect you'll be pleasantly shocked.

Shooting the 77TMK in my Tikka '250 with good results. Not sure how that bullet would compare to the Hornady 62

My 1-8 Tikka Varmint in 223 shoots the 75gr ELDM great and I have taken them to 1400 yards on steel. You should be fine with the 62s.

I'm running the 85.5 Bergers in mine with no issues. I'm guessing the 62 ELD-VT will work just fine.

I haven't tried that 62 grain Hornady but have read that it can work well but it is a little finicky
