Thanks angus. I have been torn between the 6.5X284 and the 6.5-06 but ran across this deal and my decision was made. 6.5X300; I cleaned the barrel thoroughly and adjusted the AccuTrigger down as low as I could get it (2lbs). I shot a total of 10 3-shot groups, cleaning after each. Yesterday I fired two shots at 100yds to verify my zero (same hole, 3.5" high) and then went for the 500yd target that you see. The barrel cleans up pretty quick and I'm not seeing alot of copper. I will however, continue the shoot 3 and clean routine until I feel it's right. I also bought Lapua brass and the Redding Neck Sizing Die set. I have the 112BVSS in .300WinMag too. It is a beast and shoots great. My go to load for this rifle uses the 180gn Ballistic Tip with 75.5gn of RL22 and CCI BR2's. It regularly prints in the .3's at 100yds and velocity averages 3100fps. I've shot 3.5" groups with this load at 550yds. Oliveralan; "Think this is the same ole' Savage? think again" :) JohnnyK.
