I can't seem to find any data out there on this for some reason. I'm sure it's out there and I'm just looking in the wrong places but any info would be appreciated.

6.5 saum, 156 Berger .081 Fb chamber, Adg brass. Anybody loaded this combo? Have a good starting point with H-1000? Or what powder worked the best? Thanks in advance!

and just think, that's what the PRC crowd boasts too.

I push them at 3150 in my 6.5 Colorado wildcat. 56.7 grains of Retumbo.

Case capacity (H20) is similar to 6.5-284 Norma. I'm running the 156's @ 2960fps w/56.5gn of Retumbo and BR2's. This is a mild load with no pressure at all.

Hate to say it but my luck is with RL26.... 0.704" group at 300 yards.

For the guys who have tried both, was retumbo better then h-1000?
I had been curious about rl26, that's good info browning442 thanks.

No problem.... I hate to suggest it anymore because of availability issues, but seems like H-1000 isn't much better now.

FYI I was using bertram brass

I killed two bull elk this year with the 156 Berger, one in Colorado and one in Wyoming. The rifle was one of Len's Mountain Rifles in 6.5 GAP. Both bulls were fairly close, 250 and 150 yards, both stoned with one shot. The Wyoming bull was standing broadside at 250 yards, high shoulder shot, complete pas thru, DRT. The Colorado bull broke out of oak brush behind me and as it was running sort of parallel to me I shot it at 150 yards above the shoulder and just below the neck, the bull dropped like it was stuck with lightning. The bullet traveled down below the spine and stopped at the pelvis. No bullet was recovered. I was using Copper Creek custom ammo at 2850 fps. The ammo is supposed to be going 2930 fps. The barrel had less than 100 rounds down it, I'm assuming it's not fully broken in. Sorry, no 700 yard shot reports, I'm sold.

My 6.5 SAUM Hbn coated 156 EOL load is using 61.0 grs Retumbo, Remington brass, Fed 215M, and .120" FB. My speed is around 2990 avg with 25" barrel. Long range accuracy (700- 1050 yards) has been good with Retumbo.

Wish I had some data for you but the complements are all sitting on the shelf and will be for awhile. I'll be using H1000 to start. I'm expecting at least 3000 fps out of my 28" tube since I'm getting 3250 with 140s.
