Taylor had been practicing out to 450 yards during the past year. Using a custom built .270WSM. Built on a Rem 700 action, Lilia barrel with 1-8 twist, Grayboe ridgeback stock, and NF NX8 4-32×50 scope; he worked up a load using the 110gr Hammer Hunter with MV at nearly 3700 fps.
He and his hunting partner worked hard to get into this public land Blacktail Buck. At a distance of 515 yards Taylor made a perfect shot in the crease. Here is Taylor's field report, "The buck ended up running up hill about 30 yards then 180'd downhill about 10 feet and piled up. Didn't see it after it leapt out of frame into thick trees. Determined that death run by his blood. It left the biggest blood trail I've ever seen from these bullets. Parts of his lung were in the brush on the exit side after the 110 HH went through him and a big chunk of lung was next to where he piled up. All the blood came from the exit side on his death run."
Congratulations on your hard work, and perfect shot. Thanks for letting us share your video and hunt.
