338 crimp

Just getting into loading for the 338 lapua. I have a 2 die set of hornady dies. Got used. Realized some parts are missing because I can't get it to crimp at all.

I am just going to get a set of 3 dies or maybe 2 dies and a crimp die. Redding offers a taper crimp die. Not familiar with taper crimp. Are they better ?

Other suggestions?

Definitely not. I see that they are a different size.

The lfc die I have uses 1 1/4"x 12tpi instead of 7/8x 14tpi.

That is the reason I bought the lee cast single stage + it gives me more room.

What press are you using? Mine is RCBS, RCII has a removable bushing to accommodate the larger size

I see the problem. Hopefully someone with the same press will chime in

If it were possible to use a short nipple (7/8x14), add a bell (7/8x14 to 1 1/4x12), then install the lfc. For the 338lm cartridge length it should have the room for it and be short enough to go thru the top of the press and into the lfc.
